Hair Nugget- Q & A

How often should you condition your hair during the winter?

Different seasons require different hair care techniques to maintain healthy hair. Winter weather and heated indoor spaces can dry out your hair and scalp. So you want to look for shampoos and conditioners that put moisture and nutrients back into the hair. You definitely want to condition every time you shampoo and find a conditioner the caters to your hair type and texture ex. dry, oily, etc.. Avoid washing your hair more often then needed. Frequent hair washing can cause the scalp to loose moisture that is needed, especially in the winter months. Deep condition more often 2-3 times per month and look for humectant products that hold moisture in the hair. In the winter we buy more lip balm and lotion for our skin. Just like your skin, your scalp is taking abuse from the winter weather elements. So for daily maintenance, put a small amount of a light oil in the palm of your hand and section the hair and apply to your scalp. Then brush through and style as usual. Stay away from a lot of heat and styling agents that are drying. Stay warm and stay Be-youtiful this season.

*Hair Nugget- You can over condition your hair! So, don't overuse conditioners because your hair will start to look greasy, or lay flat because of the build up of product.
