How do I properly take care of hair going from relaxed to natural?
If you opt out of the Big Chop! Then the key to transition is keeping your hair moisturized and conditioned especially the new growth. Deep condition a least twice per month this will keep the new growth soft and easy to manage when you blow dry your hair. Always use a leave in conditioner or thermal protecter before you blow dry the hair and try not to flatiron you hair to often. Check the temperature of your flatiron because if the heat is to high you can burn the hair and sometimes the heat will permanently straighten your natural curl. This would not be good especially if your goal is to be able to go back and forth between natural and straight. You should also get trims on a regular basis this way your stylist can gradually cut the relaxer out. I wish you the best during your transition going natural is very liberating!
* Hair Nugget- Find yourself a stylist that specializes in natural hair, it will make your transition easier.
